Confirmed with Hale’s that this year’s O’Brien’s was not brewed with any fresh hops due to timing issues, while it had been in years past.

I still enjoyed this year’s, but it didn’t blow me away like it did the first time I ever tasted on the WABL bus trip out to Yakima a few years ago.

I love a lot of the fresh-hop beers, but something was off about the Harvest in the bottle. It was just harsh and heavy to me. It came out so early here (late August), probably too soon for it to be fresh-hopped. Maybe I’m just a Hale’s hater. Most of their beers just don’t hit me right.

Had a Hale’s Harvest on cask just yesterday, pretty nice. I look for it every year. But I guess some retards don’t care for the vegetably fresh-hop flavor.
